Khyran Shank, a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, was known for his track and field accomplishments during his time in school. Despite being a serious athlete, Khyran always had a creative side and enjoyed rapping. While exploring the art of music, he was determined to pursue a professional career in track and field. However, after sustaining a sports injury, he decided to start honing his artistic abilities and began recording songs in a sound booth he created in his closet.
While in college, Khyran had the exciting experience of hearing his first single, "Small Talk," playing on the radio as he was on his way to class. This helped confirm for Khyran that his creative persona, Shank, was on his way to achieving great things. After college, Shank moved to Atlanta where he recorded a new single, "Cut You Loose," and began networking with entertainment professionals in the area, gaining more popularity for his music. However, juggling a full-time job and a music career began to take its toll on Khyran, and he started feeling the pressure to excel in both worlds.
Once Shank met his current DJ, who convinced him to move from Atlanta to LA, he took it as a sign to take a major risk and put his all into his music. Khyran went on to release his third major single, "Late Nights," as well as "Shank's Rain." He also sought to expand his artistic reach and entered some of his creative work into a short film festival, which he won. This was yet another sign that his move to LA was a divinely-led choice.
